Bayern Munich will be entering the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League as one of the top favorites. The German giant bowed out to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain. Striker Harry Kane highlighted the hunger and group chemistry under Vincent Kompany as the core strengths to go all the way and lift the trophy this season.
The finest of margins
In an interview with Spanish publication Marca’s Juan Castro (via @iMiaSanMia), Harry Kane outlined Bayern’s semifinal run in the European tournament. Castro centered on Bayern’s European quest
and asked Kane whether the UCL was the biggest challenge after sweeping the domestic trophies.
“Yes, exactly. Last season was really good for us: we finished second in the League Phase, with seven wins and one defeat. And then we had some very good matches: Atalanta, Real Madrid… That one was very special, and then PSG, of course. Two incredible games for the fans. Our narrow exit was difficult to take. We were very close; we had the confidence and quality needed to reach the final. But that’s the Champions League: everything is decided by very fine margins,” replied Kane.
All the right ingredients
Kane underlined the crucial advantages that make Bayern a bonafide favorite to lift the apex European trophy. “It’s about doing more or less the same thing and taking that final step. This Bayern team has the hunger we need as a group and as a team, and we also have the right coach,” said Kane.
Bayern’s consistency is of the highest level. But, game load management and luck have played crucial factors and decided games for Bayern late in the season. After having made signings in the summer and Kompany having gained crucial experience last season as a dominant team, Bayern’s chances to add their seventh Champions League is higher than ever.
