Earlier today, the Chicago Bears announced they signed quarterback Miller Moss to the practice squad and, in a corresponding move, released safety Keidron Smith from the practice squad.
They also announced that Moss and wide receiver Kaden Davis were elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Following the game, they’ll revert to the practice squad without having to go through waivers.
Moss spent the offseason with the Bears, and in the preseason he completed
17 of 31 passes (54.8%) for 163 yards, no touchdowns or interceptions, and a passer rating of 69.7. He was sacked 3 times, and he ran the ball 5 times for 17 yards.
With QB2 Tyson Bagent questionable with a back issue (he also didn’t practice all week), the Bears may want another quarterback available just in case.
Davis may be needed just in case Rome Odunze, who is questionable after having been limited all week with a calf issue, is inactive on Sunday.
Davis flashed in training camp and in the preseason; he caught 5 for 93 yards, returned 3 punts for 34 yards, returned 5 kicks for 95 yards, and had a special teams tackle.
