Now that the offseason is upon us so too is TransferPortalSZN and LSU is feeling the same effects that every program goes through this time of year.
Sophomore defensive tackle Ahmad Breaux put his name into the transfer portal Monday afternoon per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. We say this every year but it bears repeating: a player can withdraw their name from the portal and remain with their team.
This one is kinda surprising to me. Breaux has played a lot over the past two seasons, appearing in 24 total games
with two starts. Sure he only started twice, but Breaux was heavily involved in the Tiger defensive front, and with guys like Jacobian Guillory and Bernard Gooden out of eligibility, you’d figure he’d be the starter alongside fellow classmate Dominick McKinley.
LSU’s 2026 high school signing class is highlighted by four defensive linemen, but still it would have been nice to keep a veteran presence like Breaux in the room. In two years Breaux has amassed 36 tackles, four for loss, and half a sack.
Breaux is the third Tiger to put his name into the portal. Ashton Stamps, who left the team before Brian Kelly was fired, officially put his name into the portal, and Kylan Billiot put his name in last week after Lane Kiffin was hired. With all due respect to Stamps and Billiot, Breaux is the most impactful player from this LSU roster to put his name into the portal and he likely won’t be last. That’s the nature of college football now, and LSU won’t be able to start offsetting these departures until January when the portal opens and runs from the 2nd through the 16th. Not that Lane Kiffin needed to be reminded.
