NBC on Thursday unveiled its announcer assignments for opening day, including a pair of Dodgers Cy Young Award winners on the broadcast for Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, March 26 at Dodger Stadium.
Jason Benetti is the lead play-by-play baseball announcer for NBC Sports this season, and he’ll be on the call for Dodgers-Diamondbacks, with Orel Hershiser and Luis Gonzalez will join Benetti in the booth. For its ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ telecasts NBC plans to use analysts related to each
team, similar to YouTube, Roku, and Peacock telecasts in recent years.
Dodgers-Diamondbacks on opening day is a 5:30 p.m. PT start, exclusively televised by NBC and streamed on Peacock. The telecast begins at 5 p.m. with a pregame show, for this game hosted on-site by Bob Costas along with Clayton Kershaw in his first game as analyst.
This is one of four Sunday Dodgers games on NBC and Peacock this season — July 5 vs. the San Diego Padres, July 19 at the New York Yankees, and August 2 vs. the Boston Red Sox.
NBC will televise two games on opening day. The first is Pittsburgh Pirates at New York Mets, a 10:30 a.m. PT game called by Matt Vasgersian with analysts Neil Walker and Al Leiter.
