What is the story about?
It seems as though the player the Phillies want to retain most of all, or at least the one they’ve been most vocal about, is Kyle Schwarber.
It’s obvious why the team would prioritize Schwarber. The reasons are legion: clubhouse presence, power, ability to hit both left and right handed
pitching. He’s one of the top free agent hitters for a reason. Teams are going to be lining up to get his signature, meaning the Phillies will have to pony up.
So, it’s an easy question: what kind of contract would you give Schwarber? The team obviously has a price in mind that they’ll be comfortable with, Schwarber has an amount of money he has in mind and it’s a matter of meeting somewhere in the middle. What should that look like?
