Personal Thoughts
Danny O’Neil was the evident starter after Billy Edwards’s injury, and he had a strong game with 283 passing yards and three touchdowns in the win.
At running back, Dilin Jones got a healthy number of reps, but Wisconsin just couldn’t get the run game going in the first half, regardless of who was in. Darrion Dupree and Cade Yacamelli both got 15 reps, but the former came in earlier and got a few more carries.
The wide receiver snaps were more balanced within the top five after Vinny Anthony clearly led the group with 51 snaps in Week 1. Eugene Hilton continues to be the WR6, getting 13 snaps here in this one.
At tight end, Lance Mason had a big day, while the snap distribution was more even between Jackson Acker and Grant Stec.
The offensive line was where the most changes were seen, however, as Wisconsin had four starters in new spots. Riley Mahlman moved over to left tackle, Kerry Kodanko took over for an injured Jake Renfro, Colin Cubberly got his first career start at right guard, and Emerson Mandell moved over to right tackle.
Wisconsin’s blowout allowed for Mahlman and left guard Joe Brunner to leave the game early, with Davis Heinzen and JP Benzschawel coming in as reserves. We’ll see what Wisconsin does with the offensive line next week against Alabama.
