Real Madrid Castilla midfielder César Palacios has received interest from Athletic Bilbao, according to a report from MARCA. Palacios’ current deal with Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2027 and the club wants to extend his contract and then sell him to a bigger club while keeping 50% of his rights, per that same report.
Palacios has scored 13 goals and delivered 4 assists for Castilla. He knows that his tenure in Real Madrid’s academy is about to end and that’s where Athletic Bilbao’s interest
could be useful. There, Palacios could play relevant minutes in an elite club and then Real Madrid could assess whether or not he’s ready to make his return to the Spanish capital.
The midfielder fits Bilbao’s player policy because he was born and raised in Soria, where his father was playing when he was born. His parents had planned for him to be born in Pamplona, but the birth came early and happened during a Copa match his father was playing in Córdoba. Still, he was registered in Pamplona, and that’s how it appears on both his ID and in the family registry.
Palacios is 21 years old and has the potential to be a relevant player in LaLiga. Whether or not that ever happens playing for Real Madrid remains to be seen.
