The Chicago Bears suffered an additional setback to their 2026 season on October 13th when Pro Bowl defensive end Montez Sweat was suspended without pay for two games, per Ian Rapoport and others.
Sweat is currently third on the team for pressures and sacks and fourth for tackles for a loss. He should be eligible
to return on Friday, October 23rd—almost three years after the Bears traded for him. This means he will miss the matchups against the Atlanta Falcons (2-3) and the New England Patriots (3-2).
The news comes after Sweat’s fellow defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo left the field during the defeat against the Packers with a quadriceps injury. Meanwhile, second-round draft pick Shemar Turner is still recovering from an ACL tear in October of 2025, with team facing a decision on whether or not to move him to active status or place him on injured reserve.
