For the second home game in a row, Arizona football will wear alternate uniforms.
On Wednesday Arizona revealed “Sandstorm” unis for Saturday’s noon PST kickoff vs. Oklahoma State. The jersey combo features a white top, white pants and a red helmet with the Arizona cactus logo.
Based on the uniforms promoted on social media, it appears Arizona players will be wearing a red undershirt beneath the white tops.
The white jerseys go along with the sandstorm
theme (with a little help of the imagination), but the most distinctive element of the unis is the cactus logo on the helmet. The cactus logo is making a loud and proud return to prominence this fall; the McKale Center court was recently repainted to incorporate the cactus design.
Coincidentally, this Friday also marks the Red-Blue Showcase at McKale.
Arizona is going with alternate home unis back-to-back games after pulling out a retro look for the Sept. 19 game vs. Kansas State. The retro helmets included wildcat paw print helmet stickers, which carried over to last Saturday’s game at Iowa State.
For fans who can’t catch Arizona’s Sandstorm uniforms in person, Saturday’s game vs. Oklahoma State will be broadcast on TNT and HBO Max.
