The Washington Commanders are back at practice this week, and they’ve moved into regular season mode. Assistant general manager Lance Newmark spoke to reporters before Tuesday’s practice, and was asked about the two tight ends that were added to the practice squad.
Fellow tight end Ben Sinnott has been dealing with an oblique injury, but was back at practice yesterday doing limited work. Newmark said signing them wasn’t about the four tight ends on the roster.
Injuries have been a big storyline during
this training camp, with several players like Laremy Tunsil (triceps) and Jer’Zhan Newton (pectoral) expected to miss most, or all of the season. Other players, like running back Bill Croskey-Merritt (groin) have been dealing with soft-tissue injuries, returned to practice today.
Two big names on the injured list are edge rushers Odafe Oweh (calf) and K’Lavon Chaisson (knee) are still working to the side, and their Week 1 availability could be in question. Quinn told reporters Monday that Oweh won’t practice this week.
