The New York Jets suffered their third straight blowout loss Sunday as they fell to the New Orleans Saints, 29 – 6. This one was particularly galling as the Saints were viewed as roughly on the same level
as the Jets coming into the game. The Jets kept the game close for nearly three quarters. It was 9 – 6 in favor of the Saints with less than 17 minutes remaining in the game. Then the roof caved in as the Saints scored 20 unanswered points to close it out.
Next week the Jets are home to face a red hot 12 -3 New England Patriots team that has won 11 of their last 12 games. With the Patriots still battling the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East title, as well as competing with multiple teams for the #1 seed in the AFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, the Patriots still have plenty to play for. The Jets, on the other hand, appear to have checked out. They have not been competitive lately. It’s difficult to see a path to victory over a surging Patriots team next Sunday.
Let’s take a look at the current odds for this game according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The current line has the Jets home underdogs by a whopping 12.5 points. The game has an over/under of 42.5 points. On the moneyline the Jets are +700 and the Patriots are -1100. These odds pretty much capture the moment for a hapless and hopeless Jets team.
