Following just a one-year stint with Missouri, Damon Wilson II has announced he will be entering the portal. He confirmed the news on his Instagram with On3.
This one isn’t ideal for the Tigers as Wilson
was a stud off the edge this past season after transferring in from Georgia. During the 2025 season, Wilson finished with 47 tackles, 12.5 sacks, an interception and two forced fumbles. Finding a player to fill those stats is never easy.
Wilson was a five-star recruit out of high school choosing Georgia over Ohio State and Alabama and he was also the No. 1 EDGE in last year’s portal rankings. It was uncertain whether Wilson was going to stay, enter the transfer portal or declare for the draft.
With the loss of Zion Young to eligibility and now Wilson, Missouri will look to rostered pass rushers Darris Smith and Langden Kitchen for increased roles this upcoming season along with potentially shopping in the portal. There are reasons to believe Florida EDGE Jayden Woods has a shot at committing to Mizzou, while New Hampshire EDGE Jordan Mcallister and Ohio State EDGE Logan George are currently on visits in Columbia. While Smith is a solid option, I’d expect Drinkwitz to pull the trigger on at least one transfer at the position, ideally Woods.
As for Wilson, he’s likely to be highly touted in the portal. He’s going to make some serious money no matter where he goes, but I’d expect him to land at a school with some history in the College Football Playoff.
