The Wisconsin Badgers are midway through fall camp, with the season opener just two weeks away against Miami (OH) at Camp Randall Stadium.
The Badgers have a much different team in 2025, but there are several key mainstays, such as cornerback Ricardo Hallman, several starting offensive linemen, and others.
After having an All-American across at least one platform in 13 of 14 years between 2010-2023, the Badgers did not have any nominees in 2024, representing how their season went.
Will that be the case
again in 2025?
Well, ESPN’s Chris Low recently revealed his preseason college football All-American list, and a Badger did make their way on the rankings: offensive guard Joe Brunner.
Brunner was listed as a second-team All-American at guard behind Penn State’s Olaivavega Ioane, while Missouri’s Cayden Green was the other second-team All-American guard behind Texas A&M’s Ar’Maj Reed-Adams.
There were a lot of new faces on Low’s list, with only five first-team selections from the end of last year making the cut.
“Only five players who were first-team selections on our 2024 postseason team made the cut: Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith, Florida center Jake Slaughter, Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., Ohio State safety Caleb Downs and Michigan place-kicker Dominic Zvada,” Low wrote.
There were several teams with multiple selections. Clemson and Alabama each had three first-team selections, while Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Texas, and Pitt each had two first-teamers. Other notable teams included Georgia, which had one first-team selection and three second-team selections, LSU, which had a first-team and second-team selection, and Florida, which had two second-team selections.
Brunner was a first-year full-time starter in 2024, playing in every game at left guard, although it was noticeable that he was dealing with an injury near the end of the year. Still, he was well known for his ‘mean streak’ and punishing mentality, and has the ability to potentially kick out and play tackle if necessary.
Currently, it seems that he will suit up at left guard once again in 2025, with Central Michigan transfer Davis Heinzen slated to start at left tackle.
