When you have several days between the ALCS and the start of the World Series, surprisingly enough there isn’t much for news.
The Dodgers have announced their starters for games one and two: Blake Snell
(5-4, 2.35) and Yoshinobu Yamamoto (12-8, 2.49).
Arden Zwelling has a thread on Twitter talking about the ‘third time seen’ penalty for relief pitchers in the playoffs.
Hitters vs relievers hit .233/.319/.389 against relievers in the playoffs.
The third game they faced a team it was .276/.360/.500. Of course that was in very limited at bats.
The Jays did a good job of not showing the same batter the same reliever three times:
Springer, in Game Seven, was facing Eduard Bazardo for the third time and he homered. The first two times Springer ground out. The third time, well you remember.
Some of it might be due to sample size; with a small sample, Springer’s home run, in that small a sample, brought up the numbers a fair bit. But Springer likely had an idea of what Bazardo was going to throw in that spot.
I played tennis this morning and someone I hadn’t seen serve before was serving at me and I was thinking about how much harder that made the decision of where to stand and how I was going to return the ball. After he served a few, I was much more relaxed. I know MLB pitchers ‘serve’ the ball much harder and all, but knowledge is a good thing.
I had a conversation with someone today saying the Jays shouldn’t add Bo to the lineup. I know it is a case of out of mind out of though, but Bo Bichette is a guy who can change the game, IKF is a guy. If Bo can play, he will play. If he can only DH, he’ll DH. He’s
I don’t know what the Jays are going to do with the roster. If Bo plays, do they take one less pitcher? I kind of doubt it, I think if Bo plays Loperfido, it’s on the outside again.
This surprised me, but I forgot that the Yankees weren’t a great team when Mattingly played.
Former friend news. I thought he would become a decent starter. Maybe he still can.
