Otega Oweh, a veteran leader of this Kentucky Wildcats squad, voices a loud opinion in the Cats’ locker room following the team’s embarrassing home loss to Georgetown.
The preseason SEC Player of the Year
didn’t have his best game on Thursday night, but he made sure to take accountability. Oweh wasn’t happy after the home exhibition loss to Georgetown, and he promised BBN that the home losses would be few and far between this season.
“Today was a good test,” Oweh said. “When we get to conference play, I feel like that’s how it’s going to be. So it was a good test. I feel like we’re a physical team, but we were lacking that part today. I feel like this outcome won’t happen again.”
Oweh and the Cats will make it a mission to protect home court during the 2025-26 season.
Head coach Mark Pope gave the media the same response on Thursday night after the home loss.
“We’re massively disappointed with ever losing on this floor. It’s brutal for us. It’s never an okay outcome for us. We don’t do this here.”
With the calendar flipping to November, the Cats play basketball this month. On Tuesday, November 4th, Oweh will lead the Wildcats onto the Rupp Arena floor to take on Nicholls at 7:00 p.m. on SECN+.
