Ah, pro wrestling “news”. Ya gotta love it.
Yesterday’s shocking ending to Raw left fans with lots of questions, some of which were answered with last night’s report that Seth Rollins was injured
in his match Saturday at Crown Jewel. While that would explain WWE rushing plans to have Bron Breakker attack Rollins and lead a Vision revolt against the World Heavyweight champ on the Oct. 13 Raw, it still left us with plenty of questions.Mostly, folks want to know how serious Seth’s injury is. Some of
that’s out of concern for the performer, but a lot of it is interest in the Raw World title and main event scenes. And in a business built on deception like pro wrestling, attempting to answer questions about something like Rollins’ injury leads to reports like this one.
There are people within WWE who tell PWInsider that Rollins is going to require surgery to repair his shoulder, which they believe could be for a rotator cuff injury. As far as a recovery timeline, which would help tell us if Rollins will need to vacate the title (and feel more assured we’re not being worked like we were the last time The Visionary was “injured”)? That’s not enough information to go off of, unless you’ll accept “one or more months” as a guesstimate.
Apparently though, there’s not consensus in WWE that Seth will need to go under the knife. Some internal doubters apparently cited Rollins’ knee injury fake-out/Money in the Bank cash-in a couple months ago as their reason. And a supposedly high-ranking executive cautioned Insider that while the new Crown Jewel champ is definitely injured — the full extent of that injury is still unknown.
Seems safe to say that pulling the trigger on Breakker and The Vision’s turn this early was a change in plans. How many more plans will Triple H & his creative team need to change as a result of Seth Rollins’ injury?
Hopefully he’s getting more conclusive information than we are.
