For the 3rd year under Head Coach Mario Cristobal, the Miami Hurricanes are Bowl Eligible after winning their 6th game of the year, a 42-7 blowout of the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday night.
Like last season, Miami is highly ranked after 7 games. The aspirations for the 6-1 Hurricanes are sky-high, and this win gives Miami the completion of the first of what are hopefully many goals this season.
It’s taken a couple of years, but Cristobal finally has Miami’s roster and performance to the level of his dreams. And now, heading into the critical month of November, there’s still everything to play for ahead of this team. Each individual game is a step along the path toward an ACC Championship (admittedly with outside help) and more.
And, before you rip me for this piece, just know there are other teams who are NOT bowl eligible, and may not get there. (Looking at you, Florida and Florida State). So be thankful for what we have. It could always be worse.
In years past, Miami has played in lower tier bowls such as the Camping World Bowl, the Sun Bowl, and others. With 6 wins already to their credit, Miami is obviously looking at a bigger bowl, and the sky is the limit for now. Say what you want, but Miami is ranked in the top 10, bowl eligible, and will continue working to reach a Major Bowl game (New Year’s 6 or College Football Playoff) for the first time since following the 2003 season (2004 Orange Bowl).
Great stuff, but the work isn’t over. Keep grinding, guys.
