The St. Louis Cardinals are celebrating top minor league awards given to two of the organization’s top prospects. JJ Wetherholt was named the Minor League Player of the Year while Brycen Mautz received the Minor League Pitcher of the Year honors.
It’s no secret that JJ Wetherholt had a monster year with a .306 average, a stunning .931 OPS with 17 home runs and 23 stolen bases.
Brycen Mautz posted an impressive .298 ERA with 134 strikeouts over a span of just over 114 innings pitched.
The only question
now is how long it will take before these two prospects will be playing their games in Busch Stadium. President of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom has said that developing our young players the right way is the future of the franchise. Today, that future is looking very bright indeed.
