Coming off their second straight SEC series victory, Texas A&M received national attention. The Aggies moved up to spots in the D1 Baseball Top 25, checking in at No. 18. More notably, starter Aidan Sims earned conference recognition for his dazzling start in the series finale that wrapped up the three-game set over Vanderbilt on Friday night.
The sophomore from Forney, Texas,
pitched more than a gem. Sims shoved and posted a seven-inning, complete game shutout over a Vanderbilt squad that was second in homers across Division I programs this season. The righty allowed three hits, two walks and struck out eight in a 117-pitch outing. Sims picked up his sixth win of the season and has earned victories in three consecutive starts.
In his second year as an Aggie, Sims has made eight starts and holds a 3.32 season ERA. Across 43.1 innings of work, the right hander has allowed 16 earned runs and has punched out 48 batters. His six wins are tied for the conference lead, while his 1.04 WHIP leads the A&M starting rotation.
Texas A&M is back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 7, as they travel to San Marcos to take on Texas State at Bobcat Ballpark. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+.
