The Commanders were banged up a bit towards the end of a rigorous training camp. Despite having so many dealing with injury over the past few weeks, head coach Dan Quinn told on-site reporters in a Friday press conference that everyone on the 53-man roster has been medically cleared to play on Sunday afternoon against the Philadelphia Eagles in the regular-season opener.
That includes running back Bill Croskey-Merritt (groin), edge rushers Odafe Oweh (calf) and K’Lavon Chaisson (knee) and defensive
lineman Daron Payne (knee), who were limited at some point during the practice week.
That should make for a really boring Commanders injury report once it’s formally released later on Friday
They shouldn’t have anyone listed as questionable or out on the official injury report, though that document’s release would make it official.
That will make for a tough inactives list, considering everyone is available to the Commanders. That’s big for the running back room, obviously, and the team’s edge rushers. Having Oweh and Chaisson would huge for the pass rush, especially with Dorance Armstrong suspended.
Quinn said the team would huddle up later to discuss possible snap counts and game-day limitations, so playing time for recently returning players might be lesser as they’re worked back into things.
