3 weeks to 2026 NFL Draft: Vikings talent cliffs exposed at No. 18 and below! Minnesota Vikings draft strategy, talent cliffs, WR value, secondary depth, and barren DT class take center stage on The Real Forno Show. Tyler Forness and Dave Stefano deliver sharp, consensus-backed analysis that every SKOL fan needs before the draft.
In this Vikings 1st & SKOL production, Tyler Forness explains how talent cliffs shape best-player-available decisions versus roster needs in Brian Flores’ defense and Kevin
O’Connell’s offense. “Essentially what a talent cliff is, is when you are looking at the board and you’re looking at a certain position, there are some that are gonna be way deeper than others, some that are gonna be way more shallow, and understanding where that drop off is,” Forness says. He stresses using consensus boards over single-analyst rankings because “consensus is better than any single individual NFL draft analyst.”
Key points from the episode include:
- Wide receiver makes sense at 18: “This is a really good group… the talent cliff doesn’t really hit until like end of round two.”
- Cornerback and safety deep enough to double dip: “This cornerback group is deep… why force it on day one?” and safety offers “pick your flavor” depth after Caleb Downs.
- Linebacker early could be a good strategy: Strong top tier with Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles, but a drop-off after day two makes early value attractive.
- Defensive tackle is barren: “This is the worst year I’ve seen in a long time… you better be sold” on the few top options.
- Full 7-round Vikings mock using the A-to-Z Sports simulator:
- Round 1 (18): Kenyon Sadiq (TE)
- Round 2 (49): D’Angelo Ponds (CB)
- Round 3 (82): Gracen Halton (DT)
- Round 3 comp (97): Bud Clark (S)
- Later Round 3/4: Kaleb Proctor (DT)
- Mid-rounds: J. Michael Sturdivant (WR)
- Day 3: Eric Gentry (LB)
- Day 3: Thaddeus Dixon (CB)
- Late Round (244+): Eli Heidenreich (RB / special teams)
Tyler and Dave also discuss quarterback premium myths, running back punts, and offensive line cliffs while running the live mock to show real-time decision-making.
