Ahead of their 50-year anniversary game against the NFC twin team in Tampa Bay, the Seattle Seahawks have released the names of the men who will serve as captains this Sunday.
Nose tackle Jarran Reed, quarterback
Sam Darnold and wide receiver Dareke Young will act as game captains for the Week 5 bout.
Reed has lined up at nose as well as defensive tackle, rotating in on Seattle’s talented and deep defensive line this year. Despite being the elder statesman in the rotation, J-Reed ranks 9th in the NFL in ESPN’s Pass Rush Win Rate Rankings (13%). He wrangled together two tackles against Arizona on Thursday Night Football last week and will look to help shut down Tampa’s pared down ground game.
This is Darnold’s third go-round as a captain for the offense. He has acquitted himself nicely, ranking 7th in passer rating this far into the 2025 season. He will go toe-to-toe with Baker Mayfield, his one-time teammate on the Carolina Panthers.
It is Young’s first time as captain this year as he’s been a contributor on offense as well as Seattle’s special teams unit. While he only has one catch for 12 yards as a receiver, he has helped in run blocking on the perimeter, has recorded 4 total tackles on kick coverage and is averaging 40.3 yards per kick return.
