Here are the ratings from Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday.
Starters
Altay Bayindir – 5
It was his best game this season, and it could’ve been worse if not for the saves, but he should’ve done better on the third goal.
Diogo Dalot – 4
Started too deep for a wing-back. Usually moves the ball forward quicker, but didn’t manage that either today.
Matthijs De Ligt – 3
Had a lot of clumsy moments today.
Harry Maguire – 3
Can’t be making mistakes like that. Just not something top defenders do.
Luke Shaw – 3
Showed some drive last week for the second goal, but seems more leggy this season.
Patrick Dorgu – 4
Involved in the first goal, but it wasn’t a great ball by any means. Has some athleticism, but doesn’t do enough in possession.
Manuel Ugarte – 3
Anonymous unless it’s a concerning moment.
Bruno Fernandes – 3
Didn’t have much of an impact before the penalty miss, but the miss capped off a miserable afternoon for the player and team.
Bryan Mbeumo – 4
Did well to win the penalty, but that was a poor performance from one of the brighter sparks this season.
Matheus Cunha- 5
A threat at times, but he could’ve made some better decisions once he got into threatening areas.
Benjamin Sesko – 6
Finally got off the mark. The only positive of the game.
Subs
Mason Mount – 4
Huffed and puffed.
Leny Yoro – 5
Not much he could’ve done to affect any real change today.
Kobbie Mainoo – 5
The team started playing through midfield a bit more once he got on, but the missed penalty killed whatever forward momentum the team was trying to build.
Joshua Zirkzee – N/A
Manager
Ruben Amorim – 2
Didn’t make any overt changes despite the obvious difficulties the side was facing from Brentford’s direct approach. Wouldn’t be surprised if a decision is made on his future after the game. Today was a great opportunity to build on last week’s win, but the penny just hasn’t dropped for Ruben Amorim.
