Earlier on Monday, it was reported that the New England Patriots were poised to cut ties with their third-round pick from the 2024 NFL Draft — offensive lineman, Caedan Wallace. Before that transaction could be finalized, the Miami Dolphins swooped in with an offer their division rivals could not refuse.
According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, the Dolphins are sending the Patriots a 2028 sixth-round selection in exchange for Wallace and a 2029 seventh-round pick. It’s a low risk deal for a Dolphins squad
begging for offensive line depth following the injury to free agent signing Jamaree Salyer. Wallace — primarily a right tackle — will now presumably back-up oft-injured starter Austin Jackson — a player who has already missed time during this year’s training camp.
Wallace appeared in 47 games during his five-year college career with Penn State. He was taken 68th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by New England, but has appeared in only 10 games over two years with the Patriots — starting two of those contests.
