
The San Diego Padres loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, trailing the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2. The Padres sent Luis Arraez and Manny Machado to the plate, expecting one or both to drive in some runs to tie or possibly take the lead in the game. Instead, Arraez struck out swinging and Machado bounced into a ground ball fielder’s choice to shortstop and the Orioles went on to win the game, 6-2 at Petco Park, Tuesday.

Jackson hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning off Yu Darvish to put Baltimore ahead, 1-0.
The Orioles added two runs in the top of the third inning and had a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third. The Padres were able to get two runs in the bottom of the third when Luis Arraez hit a two-run home run to right-center field to make the score 3-2.
San Diego failed to add to its total despite having runners on base in multiple innings. Baltimore went on to add two runs in the top of the fifth and a run in the top of the eighth to cruise to the win and clinch the series win. The Padres were outhit by the Orioles 10-6 and San Diego finished 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position, while leaving seven on base.
The Padres complete their series with the Orioles, Wednesday at 1:10 p.m.
