Spain boss Luis de la Fuente offered an injury update on Barcelona star Eric Garcia after Saturday’s 3-2 win over England at Wembley in the Nations League.
Garcia was named in the starting XI but was a late withdrawal after sustaining an injury in the warm-up. Spain have confirmed it’s a knee injury, with De la Fuente saying more tests are needed.
“He’s had a minor issue—it doesn’t look serious,” he told reporters after the win.
“We’ll assess whether he can recover once we get back to Madrid, but only
if there is absolutely no risk to the player.
“Right now, it doesn’t appear to be anything grave, but we don’t know if he’ll be available for the upcoming matches; if not, we’ll consider bringing in another teammate.”
Spain still have two games against Croatia and another fixture with Czechia to play over the international break in the Nations League.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will be hoping that Garcia’s injury is not serious, particularly as the club have some key fixtures on the horizon in October in La Liga and the Champions League.
