Kentucky Football is coming off its biggest win of the season, defeating No. 9 Texas A&M, 31-21, on the road. The Wildcats dominated the second half, outscoring the Aggies 24-14 while scoring multiple touchdowns and forcing turnovers.
The victory marked the first major road win of Will Stein’s tenure and improved Kentucky to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play.
Now, Kentucky gets a more favorable matchup in Week 4 against South Alabama at Kroger Field. The Wildcats will look to improve to 3-1 before traveling
to face South Carolina.
South Alabama enters the matchup at 2-1 after defeating Southeastern Louisiana 39-14 and Ohio 41-36, while falling short to Tulane 28-24. Quarterback Bishop Davenport started the Jaguars’ first two games before missing the Ohio game with a minor injury. Jared Hollins stepped in and threw for 192 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
Davenport has completed 40/59 passes for 450 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions this season.
South Alabama also relies on its running back room featuring Keenan Phillips, P.J. Martin and Trae’von Dunbar, while Brendan Jenkins and Micah Woods are among the team’s primary receiving options.
Kentucky also has some familiarity with South Alabama, having added defensive linemen Dominic Wiseman and Tyler Thomas from the Jaguars.
