In some former Philadelphia Eagles player news, the Buffalo Bills are releasing Super Bowl LIX champion C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
This much according to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Here’s the reaction from our associates over at Buffalo Rumblings:
Another short-lived stint on a new team for C.J Gardner-Johnson, as the Buffalo Bills have released the mercurial safety following his one-game suspension for spitting toward Raiders tight end Brock Bowers. […] Beyond his on-field antics, Gardner-Johnson, who’ll
turn 29 in December, had seriously problems tackling while in Buffalo. In fact, entering Week 9, his 25.7% missed tackle rate was the highest in the NFL among qualifying safeties.
If CJGJ finds a new NFL home, it’ll be his fifth landing spot since the Eagles traded him to the Houston Texans in March 2025. He spent stints with the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears last season before joining the Bills in free agency earlier this year.
The Eagles could use some safety help but I doubt they’re dying to bring CJGJ back after previously moving on from him twice in the past and also seeing him wear out his welcome with other teams.
