Tom Izzo has adjusted his approach many times over the years and that is happening once again.
While Izzo has always made sure the point guard position was in good standing, he has also worked to bring size to East Lansing.
On Wednesday, Michigan State became the latest school to offer four-star center Akol Nyok. The 7-foot-1 big man has been fast-rising through rankings, recently cracking 247Sports Top 150. He is currently ranked as the No. 23 player in Florida and No. 14 center nationally.
Nyok, who
attends Miami Columbus in Miami, received offers from Arkansas State and Duquesne on April 27. These are the first documented offers via his social media. Since then, many big names have gotten in the mix.
Nyok currently holds 18 offers from the likes of Tennessee, Georgia, UNLV, Virginia Tech, and Maryland. He also took an official visit to Marquette on July 28.
The Miami-based, Maryland native has been described as a raw prospect on the offensive side of the floor. That is not the case defensively as he is known for being very mobile for his size with strong tools in the paint. Right now, Nyok is viewed as a rim protector but he continues to work on his hands and overall frame, which will help down low offensively.
Izzo has remained in on size in the 2027 class. This includes Kamsi Awaka, who is ranked as the top player in New Jersey. Awaka received his offer earlier this month, showing that Izzo will be aggressive in hunting size.
