Tino Livramento is not expected to play again this season for Newcastle United, with the club opting not to risk his fitness late in the campaign with the 2026 World Cup right around the corner.
The 23-year-old has already missed recent matches due to a thigh issue, last playing on Mar. 18, and while his injury is not considered serious, the decision has been made to prioritize his recovery instead of forcing him to play a meaningless much in MD38, if he’s available then and there.
“Tino’s doing well,
he’s back running on the grass. I don’t think he’ll be back this season. We could possibly push him for the Fulham game, but I think that’d be silly on his behalf, so let’s let him recover and have a good summer,” Howe said.
Howe’s comments confirm that even a late return is unlikely, despite the theoretical possibility of featuring in the final game of the season, away at Fulham.
The World Cup, set to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, remains a realistic target for Livramento if he is called up, which is expected as long as he’s fit by early June.
An entirely different matter, however, is whether or not Livramente has already played his final game for Newcastle.
