Former New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton has signed with the Indianapolis Colts on Monday evening.
You might have missed the news due to Monday Night Football, but the Colts have rekindled the relationship between Daniel Jones and Slayton. The Colts needed a big, athletic deep threat following the injury to Alec Pierce on Sunday, and quickly turned to the former Giants’ receiver.
Slayton and Jones were both drafted by the Giants in 2019 and had an immediate chemistry, and Slayton led the Giants in receiving
in four of his first five seasons (2019, 202, 2022, and 2023).
Even apart form his pre-existing chemistry with Jones, Slayton would be a solid replacement for Pierce, thanks to his uncommon blend of size and speed. The Colts could use a deep threat to open things up for TE Tyler Warren and RB Jonathan Taylor.
Meanwhile, the Giants could use the wide receiver depth with Malik Nabers playing through a shoulder injury.
