As winter begins to descend across Indiana we can start to dream of spring. Purdue baseball’s 2026 season begins on February 13th in Sugar Land, Texas as it has in recent seasons, and the 56 game slate
features a pair of teams that played in the 2025 Men’s College World Series.
The early highlight is the second weekend where Purdue will play Baylor, Oregon State, and Southern Miss in Round Rock, Texas. Oregon State is a baseball powerhouse with three national championships in the last 20 years and they reached the CWS last summer. Southern Miss was one of 16 regional hosts that fell to Miami (FL), but they were still one of the nation’s better teams last year.
The March 6th home opener against Oregon is significant, as former Purdue coach Mark Wasikowski brings the Ducks to town. Oregon was also a regional host last season as the No. 12 national seed, but they were stunned in two games by Utah Valley and Cal Poly.
USC is also on the Big Ten slate, and they were one of four teams from the Big Ten (joining Nebraska and eventual CWS partcipant UCLA) that made last year’s NCAA Tournament. Purdue’s non-conference Big Ten “bye” week comes against Murray State May 1-3. The Racers surprised the college baseball world last season by winning the Oxford Regional at Ole Miss as a 4 seed, then a Super Regional against Duke to become a surprise team in the College World Series.
Purdue also has defending MAC champ and NCAA Tournament participant Miami (OH) coming to Alexander Field Aptil 14th.
Purdue had a solid overall record last season at 31-23, but struggled in Big Ten play and failed to make the league tourney with an 11-19 record.
