Raphinha addressed the Camp Nou crowd on Wednesday ahead of the Joan Gamper Trophy in his role as captain after Hansi Flick handed him the armband for the match.
The Brazilian took time out to send support to injured striker Roony Bardghji first up before going on to congratulate many of his team-mates who are now world champions.
“I would like first of all to wish a speedy recovery to Roony, who is going through a difficult time in his life and career. He needs our support, he’s a spectacular kid,
an incredible player. For everything you need, all of us will be available to help you. He is one of us and we always have to take care of ours,” he said.
“I’d like to congratulate the world champions. They’ve done a spectacular job, just what we all hope for. They should be proud; they’ll always be part of football history. Congratulations to everyone.”
Raphinha also welcomed the new signings and then made his commitment to the club, after a summer of talk about a potential exit, very clear indeed.
“I’d like to welcome the new players. I want to tell them that wearing this shirt and carrying this badge is a huge responsibility, but it’s one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had.
“I’m sure it will be the same for them. We’ll be available to help them with whatever they need, so they feel at home.
“We continue to grow as a team, we will continue to fight as a team. We will need everyone’s support. We, the players and coaching staff, will do everything possible to bring joy this season.
“Only together can we fight for all the titles. Visca el Barça and visca Catalunya, always.”
