In case you missed it, new Philadelphia 76er Jaylen Brown went skydiving in Egypt a few days ago. While there’s nothing inherently dangerous about participating in a tandem skydive with a qualified instructor, ‘Sixer falls from the clouds’ is something we haven’t checked off this organization’s cursed injury bingo card, so maybe better to play it safe.
Afterwards,
Brown went on a Twitch stream Monday and donned a Sixers jersey for the first time. It’s cool to see he’s fully embracing the new squad. I would definitely be worried about a Jaylen Brown revenge tour if I were the rest of the league. He also clearly enjoyed his skydiving experience, calling for his Sixers teammates to do a group skydive if they win the championship.
Brown said LeBron texted back, “Boy, hell naw,” which I think accurately speaks for the ‘41-year-old, father of three’ broad demographic to the skydiving suggestion.
This is obviously just some good-natured offseason nonsense, but it is great to see that this new group already seems pretty tight and chatting regularly. The talent is clearly there for this Sixers roster heading into the season, but the other elements they’ll need for success are health (which you can help to some extent with load management but is largely out of your control) and team chemistry. If what we’ve seen thus far this offseason is any indication, the chemistry is looking very good as we approach training camp next month. Vibes are high in Philadelphia and it’s only fair to imagine a special season on the horizon.
