After a successful 3-0 home stand, the Spurs are back on the road again, facing the Houston Rockets. The Rockets are fifth place in the Western Conference standings, only two games behind the Spurs in the loss column. The Spurs have played three more
games than Houston, so they still have a comfortable lead, but that could quickly disappear if the Rockets went on a hot streak. They have a talented roster, led Kevin Durant, who is a suer-fire first ballot hall of fame player, along with a core of talented young players like Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun. Their weakness this year has been at point guard because they lost the services of Fred VanVleet before the season to injury, but Reed Shepard has been coming on lately, and they are on a two game win streak with wins over the Timberwolves and Pelicans.
The Spurs are still missing the services of Devin Vassell, but the rest of the injury report is green for the good guys, as they look to extend a three game winning streak at home with a road victory. The Spurs beat the Rockets in their previous meeting this season in an early November 121-110 victory in the Frost Bank Center. The Spurs have improved a lot since then with the emergence of Victor Wembanyama as an All Star starter and becoming one of the top defensive teams in the league. The offense has also been improving lately, and tonight would be a great time to keep it going as the Spurs look to continue their winning ways. They will travel to Utah on Thursday night to face the Jazz in a quick rematch to wrap up the two game mini road trip. Let’s GO SPURS!!
