Another high-profile visitor is on the Forty Acres as the Texas Longhorns host Wisconsin Badgers transfer linebacker Christian Alliegro on Monday.
The 6’4, 247-pounder has one season of eligibility remaining.
Alliegro signed with the Badgers in the 2023 recruiting class out of Connecticut, choosing Wisconsin after taking official visits to Minnesota and Wake Forest. Other offers include Maryland, NC State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, and Virginia. A consensus three-star prospect, Alliegro was ranked as the No. 1,264 player nationally and the No. 104 linebacker, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
As a true freshman, Alliegro played 53 snaps over 13 games on defense and 92 snaps on special teams, mostly on kickoff coverage and punt return, totaling five tackles, one sack, and one pass broken up. Alliegro started three of the 12 games in which he appeared, recording 66 tackles (44 solo), three sacks, and one pass breakup, along with seven pressures and 29 stops.
In 2025, Alliegro had another productive season, starting in eight of the 10 games he played in — missing some time with a broken arm — and notching 53 tackles (34 solo), eight tackles for loss, and four sacks, mostly playing at inside linebacker, but also playing 32 snaps on the defensive line and 69 snaps in the slot, showing some versatility. Alliegro had five hurries, but struggled in space against Alabama and Michigan with seven combined missed tackles. In coverage, Alliegro allowed 193 yards on 20 receptions.
Texas has a need at the inside linebacker when the departures of Anthony Hill Jr. to the 2026 NFL Draft and Liona Lefau to the portal exacerbated the depth issues the program already had.
