There will be many new faces in Miami Gardens for the upcoming Miami Dolphins season following the hire of new head coach Jeff Hafley, however some members of Mike McDaniel’s staff will remain. Earlier today, it was reported that Dolphins defensive assistant Joe Barry signed an extension to remain in Miami. Defensive line coach Austin Clark is another Dolphins coach who will be retained, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Clark has been with the Dolphins since 2020 (predating Mike McDaniel)
when he was hired as the team’s outside linebackers coach. He became Miami’s defensive line coach in 2021 — a role he has maintained since.
Clark brings some continuity and familiarity to Miami’s mostly remade staff. He’ll continue working with the Dolphins’ trio of interior defensive lineman drafted last offseason — first round pick Kenneth Grant, 5th round pick Jordan Phillips and 7th round selection Zeek Biggers. He will also try to get former first round pick Chop Robinson to realize the potential the team saw in him when making him the 21st overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
