Michael Olise did not just play a starring role in Bayern Munich’s 5-0 Champions League victory over Bodø/Glimt. He produced one of the most complete individual performances of the opening round.
The France international finished the match with two goals and an assist, but his influence went far beyond his direct goal contributions. Olise also won a competition-high 15 duels, created seven chances, and drew five fouls — all more than any other player across the first round of Champions League fixtures.
That combination of creativity, physicality, and end product made Olise a constant problem for Bodø/Glimt. Whether he was carrying the ball forward, creating opportunities for teammates, or finding space around the Norwegian side’s defense, Olise consistently found ways to impact the game.
His two goals were the headline moments, while his assist further highlighted his ability to create for others. Yet the underlying numbers may be even more impressive because they show just how involved he was throughout the match.
For Bayern Munich, this is exactly the kind of performance the club hoped to see from Olise. With Harry Kane, Luis Díaz, and Jamal Musiala providing plenty of attacking quality around him, Olise is showing that he can be one of the key difference-makers in Vincent Kompany’s attack.
If the Champions League opener is any indication, Olise could be in for a special European campaign.
