Dominant fighters like Khamzat Chimaev will often yell “crazy s—t” at UFC CEO Dana White during a lopsided performance. It’s a strategy that was made famous by former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who read White the riot act during his victory over Michael Johnson at UFC 205.
Chimaev and Nurmagomedov both destroyed their opponents to secure early stoppages.
Perhaps that was the strategy of flyweight up-and-comer Rashid Vagabov when he started jawing at White during last night’s “Contender
Series” at APEX in Las Vegas. Vagabov was a 7-to-1 favorite over Brazilian bruiser Paulo da Silva, but failed to finish the fight after three rounds of action.
Have a look:
White was not impressed:
I guess Vagabov ignored Khabib and followed Kevin Lee’s advice instead.
“Thank you to everyone who worried about me and supported me,“ Vagabov wrote on Instagram. ”And I want to say a special thank you to the brothers Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov and others who do a lot for me who are just genuinely happy for us. Maybe I didn’t get the contract this time but this will not stop me, the goal remains the same: break into the UFC and become a champion. IT WASN’T GIVEN TODAY, I’LL TAKE IT TOMORROW!!!“
