For the first time in a few weeks, we have a chance to breathe. And by that I mean Juventus aren’t playing a midweek fixture and get to enjoy the all-to-foreign concept these days of having nearly an entire
week to prepare for their next opponent.
Ah, and what a next opponent that it is.
Saturday night will see Juventus take the field at San Siro to face Serie A leaders (gross) Inter Milan, who are currently 12 points ahead of the fourth-place Bianconeri in the league standings. The two sides haven’t played since Matchday 3 back in September, when Vasilije Adžić‘s long-range thunderbolt capped a thrilling night in Turin and gave Juventus all three points in the seven-goal thriller. Even with everything that has happened since that night at the Allianz Stadium, it still remains one of Juve’s best moments of the season — and especially so when you see what Inter have done since that game and taken control of the Scudetto race ahead of city rivals AC Milan and Max Allegri.
Juventus. Inter. Derby d’Italia.
Sounds like a nice little Saturday night at San Siro, right?
Maybe some of the mascots form the Opening Ceremony are still there and can celebrate with the Juventus quartet who didn’t really celebrate either of Juve’s goals this past weekend because of, well, reasons.
With the Matchday 24 results going the way they did, Juventus are now level on points with Roma but ahead of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side thanks to a better goal differential. Inter, on the other hand, are arguably on their best run of form domestically this season. Inter haven’t lost in Serie A since before Christmas, and their lead in the league is very much reflective of that.
So, considering there’s no midweek game today and we’ve got a little bit of time to think, let’s do just that.
How we feeling about Juventus’ second meeting of the season with Inter this weekend?
