The 2025 college football season is officially over with the Indiana Hoosiers winning the national championship on Monday night. With that in mind, various outlets are already trying to predict who will be ranked in the top 25 to start the 2026 season.
On3, for example, has Michigan ranked at No. 11 in their way-too-early top 25
On3 on ranking Michigan No. 11
“Michigan’s 2024 ended in disaster with a loss to Ohio State, and things (somehow) got worse. The Sherrone Moore saga — which ended in his firing — was one of the more bizarre off-the-field stories you’ll find in college football. But what happened after is all really good stuff. The Wolverines hired former Utah coach Kyle Whittingham, retained quarterback Bryce Underwood and added a bunch of pieces in the transfer portal. Given Whittingham’s history and Michigan’s resources, the Wolverines should be a very tough out in the Big Ten next year.“
In this edition of SB Nation Reacts, we’re asking where you think Michigan will be ranked to start the season. Vote below.
Michigan was ranked No. 14 to start the 2025 season, but a year removed from Sherrone Moore as head coach, with Kyle Whittingham now in charge, and a year of starting experience under his belt for Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood should greatly shift perception about Michigan’s chances of succeeding next season. It would not be a surprise for Michigan to be ranked in the top 15. However, the ranking they finish with is all that really matters.
