Arizona might as well be known as DBU after Saturday.
The Seattle Seahawks selected Arizona cornerback Michael Dansby with the 255th overall pick of the NFL Draft, making him the fourth Wildcats defensive back taken. Dansby went in the late seventh round after not many analysts predicting the former San Jose State transfer would get drafted.
Dansby recorded 19 tackles and two interceptions in his one year at Arizona. He played three seasons at San Jose State before following much of the Spartans coaching
staff to Tucson.
Dansby joins teammates Treydan Stukes, Genesis Smith and Dalton Johnson as NFL draft picks. Dansby was the only one of the four to play in the Holiday Bowl.
Arizona’s defense had four players selected in the same draft for the first time since 2008.
Dansby joins the reigning Super Bowl Seahawks, who could use the Oakland native as a depth piece in their secondary or as a special teams player.
Arizona’s four draft picks are tied with ASU and Cincinnati as the second-most in the Big 12. Texas Tech led the conference with nine.
