Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has been talking about life at the club as he prepares to take charge of the team for the 100th time since taking charge at Camp Nou.
Flick will hit the landmark against Villarreal at the weekend and will be hoping to celebrate with a win. He told the club’s media that “100 games with Barcelona is incredible” and that it’s a “dream come true” to be at Barcelona.
The German coach also spoke about what it’s like to take charge of the greatest club in the world and the media
scrutiny he is under.
“In Barcelona, if a player or a coach says or does anything, it generates a lot of noise outside the club. That’s because everyone is focused on Barça. At first, it seemed as if everything was negative because of the comments. And football is meant to be enjoyed, in a positive way.
“Here at Barça, we already know that if I substitute Lamine, they watch to see what he does, his reaction, when this is part of the game. It’s normal that as a player, when you leave the field you’re not satisfied, but in the end, there’s also another player who deserves to play, and you have to accept that. But I can understand it.”
Flick also looked forward to the second leg of the Copa del Rey tie against Atletico and says the players must believe they can complete the comeback.
“We have to believe, that’s the first thing. We’re capable of coming back and giving our all for 90 minutes or more. We have to fight for the team, for the club, for the fans, and of course, have the fans on our side, all together.
“Reaching the Copa final would be almost a dream. That’s why Camp Nou is so important. We haven’t lost and we want to keep it that way. We have to try for the comeback.
“Playing at home, anything is possible. When there’s a connection between the team and the fans, it’s fantastic. We’ll need that on March 3rd. That’s why they have to come and enjoy themselves. Anything is possible if we’re together.”
