Ahead of their Week 6 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, the Green Bay Packers saw an unusual amount of movement on the point spread. The Packers opened the week as underdogs, getting 1.5 points at most sportsbooks, but the line quickly flipped to Packers -1.5 by Monday morning. Then, once the dust settled and the game approached, at least a handful of books had switched back to having the Cowboys favored.
The Packers cruised, however, earning a convincing 23-13 victory to move to 4-2 on the season.
That record puts them in second place in the NFC North, 1.5 games behind the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings and a half-game up on the 3-2 Detroit Lions. Both of those two teams were idle in Week 6, but the Packers have a chance to make some significant movement in the division next Sunday.
Week 7 brings the Packers their third game against an NFC North opponent this season, as they will travel to Detroit to play the Lions in the late Sunday afternoon time slot. Look for that game to be FOX’s game of the week, particularly with the Packers’ recent resurgence back into serious playoff contention.
However, the books are giving the Lions a reasonable advantage in this game thanks to it being played on their own home turf. FanDuel sportsbook opened the line at Lions -3.5 for next Sunday in the first of two meetings between these teams in 2026. Books are also expecting another high-scoring game between these two squads, setting the over/under for total points at 52.5.
Last year saw the Packers sweep Detroit for the first time since Dan Campbell took over as Lions head coach. Green Bay took the season opener at Lambeau Field 27-13, then got another Thanksgiving Day victory in Detroit in a high-scoring, 31-24 affair. Prior to 2025, the 2020 season was the last time Green Bay went 2-for-2, when they won similarly high scoring games in weeks 2 (42-24) and 14 (also 31-24).
Stay tuned to see if the line shifts before the end of the week.
