Bayern Munich has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain winger Désiré Doué a few times, but the Bavarians were not successful in securing a move.
With the two teams about to do battle in the Champions League, Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke about the failed move.
“We would have loved to sign him; he would have been a great fit for us. But he chose Paris because he wanted to stay in France. We’ll inevitably miss out on some players in the future because other clubs might
be offering more money. That’s something we have to accept; it’s part of the business. As you can see, both Paris and we are managing quite well with that,” Rummenigge told t-online’s Julian Buhl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
When asked if the supervisory board had vetoed a transfer for Doué, Rummenigge scoffed at the notion.
“No, anyone who says that is telling fairy tales. The player would have been a good fit for us in terms of value for money, considering the transfer fee and salary,” said Rummenigge.
