Curaçao head coach Dick Advocaat is leading a squad that is widely regarded as the best to ever come out of the island country.
There is a lot of confidence in the team and while Advocaat clearly respects the German national team, he is not ready to let his team’s excitement take a hit. Curaçao is going to believe it can win against the European power until the final whistle.
“The fact that we’re playing Germany right at the start is fantastic. We’ll know immediately where we stand. We want to advance
to the next round. An upset is always possible. And an upset could be all it takes to advance. We have a chance. There’s a lot of ambition in this team. And when you have that, you can achieve a lot,” Advocaat told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Germany is heavily favored, but the spirit and attitude of Curaçao is something that should be lauded and admired. Who knows? Maybe they have a little island magic up their sleeves.
