After holding a potent Mississippi State offense to just 219 yards in a 31-9 victory, two Texas A&M defenders made the SEC POTW list.
When Scooby Williams went down in the Notre Dame game, the Aggies turned to LB Daymion Sanford to play the role of “next man up”. Sanford has elevated his play far beyond that and has turned into an impact playmaker.
The redshirt-sophomore from Katy Paetow turned in the best performance of his career this past Saturday, totaling 9 tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 sack, and 1 interception. That was enough to earn him Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Cashius Howell was selected as the SEC’s Defensive Line Player of the Week for the second time this season after his another three-sack performance. He had six total QB pressures and three tackles as well. The Aggies currently rank No. 6 nationally in sacks per game and have 18 total on the year. Howell has 7 of those and is well on pace to be the first A&M defender to post double-digit sacks since Landis Durham had 10.5 in 2017.
