Former Virginia Cavaliers wide receiver Jahmal Edrine was arrested on one count of rape and one count of abduction on Thursday, February 5th. This comes after an investigation by the Albemarle County Police Department that spanned since late August, 2025.
According to the Albemarle County police department, the investigation into this matter began on August 25th, the day after a victim reported to the department that they been sexually assaulted. A grand jury indicted Edrine on Monday, February 2nd.
He was arrested three days later and charged with rape and abduction.
Edrine came to UVA for the 2025 football season after previous stops at Florida Atlantic and Purdue. He caught 46 passes for 564 yards and a touchdown during Virginia’s 11-2 season. He was previously set to return to play for the Cavaliers in 2026. The university confirmed to Wahoos247 that Edrine is no longer enrolled at UVA.
