The first ACC Championship of the 25-26 season will be decided this morning in Louisville as the Cross-Country Championships will take place with coverage on the ACC Network at 9:30.
First up is the women’s
6k race at 9:40 and it should be a two-team race between #2 NC State and #5 Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are the defending champions as they ended NC State’s streak of eight straight titles. When the two schools faced off a few weeks ago in Wisconsin, it was an easy win for the Wolfpack led by Grace Hartman, the defending ACC Champion.
Syracuse’s top runners this fall have been Selma Anderson and Emma Eastman. The Orange women have never finished higher than 3rd since joining the conference. With six ranked teams competing, this is another chance for Syracuse to pick up some potential NCAA at-large points.
The men’s 8k race will start at 10:30 and should be a four team battle between #4 Virginia, #6 Syracuse, defending Champion #12 Wake Forest, and #16 Notre Dame. The Orange knocked off Virginia and Notre Dame in Wisconsin a few weeks ago, but defending individual champion Gary Martin is hoping to lead the Cavaliers to their first team title since 2008.
Syracuse is looking for their first team title since 2019 and Sam Lawler and Assaf Harari have led the way this season for Brien Bell’s squad. The Orange won the team title the last time the ACC Championships were held in Louisville, which is also the site of Syracuse’s 2015 NCAA title win.
In addition to the broadcast on the ACC Network, you can find live results here. Good luck to the Orange this morning!
