The New Orleans Saints struggled in Sunday’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris, but rookie Barion Brown provided one of the team’s few bright spots.
Brown made an impact in all phases of the game, showcasing his big-play ability as a receiver while also one special teams. The rookie hauled in all three of his targets for 57 receiving yards, including a 49-yard reception that gave the Saints a much-needed spark.
The former LSU Tiger also contributed in the return game, recording three kickoff
returns for 77 yards with a long of 42 yards. He added another 20 yards on his lone punt return.
According to Pro Football Focus, Brown earned a 90.5 offensive grade, an 89.2 receiving grade and a 90.4 special teams grade, which highlight just how effective Brown was on Sunday.
While the Saints ultimately fell short against Pittsburgh, Brown’s performance offered an encouraging sign from a rookie who has proven he can contribute in several areas. His ability to generate explosive plays in the passing game and provide a spark on special teams could help him carve out a larger role as the season progresses.
